I think one of the things we fear the most is consistency. When you’re a funny dude, people expect you to be funny all the time. If you’re a 4.0 student, everyone is shocked when they find out you have a C. We’re pretty much labeled to our accomplishments and acknowledgements, and it turns into an expectation that others naturally notice. It’s like we feel obliged to meet those expectations, and if we don’t, we beat ourselves up for it. This is especially if they are already set so high, and you can’t even keep up with yourself. I feel like these are one of the pressures that high schoolers have to deal with all the time.
